BAD is the first designer Bed & Breakfast in the heart of Catania. Much more than a simple b&b, it is a unique mix of hospitality and creativity, ideal for both those travelling for pleasure and for business. It unites the fascinating Catanese baroque architecture with contemporary art and design. At BAD one breathes the creativity of Giulia and Alessandro, the two owners and curators. Professionals in the world of advertising and graphic design, they have expertly created within the ample and comfortable rooms different ambiences, exhibiting psychedelic wallpapers, amazing 19th Century Sicilian artifacts, vintage furniture and works of young aspiring artists. Every room of the b&b in fact has a different mood, colour and feeling, with two or three beds, private bathroom and naturally all the comforts you would expect. Because BAD is more than a sleeping experience.

Set in it’s own gated gardens, with palms and trees, Castello D'Urso Somma Bed and Breakfast is composed of 10 air-conditioned guestrooms, all ensuite,which feature bright, modern decor with antique Sicilian -style furnishings. Rooms are in groups of five, housed in 2 self contained annexes around a historic Castle, providing access to a kitchen/central breakfast room in each of the annexes that opens up onto a large patio area. Amenities include cable television (Italian channels only) and desks.

Complimentary Buffet Breakfast is provided in "your" kitchen so guests get up and help themselves when it suits them. A coffee machine and a microwave, complete with a fridge, will be available at all times. Housekeeping is provided everyday if guests are so kind to leave the room by 10:30 a.m.

There is a seasonal outdoor semi- Olympic swimming pool (usually opened from the 2nd half of May until the end of September although dates vary according to the local weather) surrounded by palms and complimentary on site parking. Sorry, the property does not have a restaurant or bar, but there are plenty in the centre of Catania.
