Certosa di San Giacomo

We are glad to show you "Certosa di San Giacomo", an ancient monastery with eighteenth century church surrounded by 42 hectares of green grass and flowery gardens. The monastery, built between 1197 and 1209 at Lauro, a medieval small town in Avellino province, became soon a place of agricultural production very famous for the quality of its products, and a place of spiritual refuge. Even today inside the "Certosa" are kept an ancient winepress and an olive grindstone and so it is continued the monks' tradition of producing wines like Fiano, Aglianico and oil for the "Certosa" customers.
